Good day to you all
I'd like to introduce myself.
In the past I've thought of myself as being a leftist liberal environmentalist progressive...
I'm not so sure about any of those any more. I find faults with many of the people who pidgeon hole themselves in to those catagories. Therefore I've decided to refrain from these round-holes.
My name is Adam.
I believe that WHO somebody is is much more important than WHAT somebody is.
Who am I? What do I believe?
I don't believe in governments. It's a dreadful, although inevitable shame that democracy has gone from the high ideals of its original protagonists to being used as a tool to beat the population around the head with. We are told that protest is allowed, but it has to be sanctioned by the goverment or our mighty leaders. We saw it in the arrests of the coach loads of peace protestors on the way to RAF Fairford before the Iraq war. Or the protesters banned from parliament square. The authorities decided they couldn't protest, so they banned tham.
This is what happens when governments become too powerful.
What difference Mugabe and Blair, except Blair started an illegal war and Mugabe is such an imbecile that he has left half his country to starve. The two are fundamentally the same, they are both national leaders.
Why was Pinochet not bought to account earlier?
He was a national leader.
A couple more things I do and don't believe in...
I don't believe in countries. Phoney nationalism and the idea that one group of people is better than another because of a flag or a song or a constitution is the kind of trippy ideal that national leaders love to fob the population off with.
"Only a pawn in their game"
I DO believe very strongly in free trade, REAL free, fair trade.
I don't agree with the kind of government induced protectionism and state control that any other system would provide.
However that said, Corporation law, which allows for massive multinationals to exist, is obviously wrong and hugely corrupt. Our problem is that we have just about dethroned our Monarchs and aristocracies, and replaced them with massive faceless entities who's sole purpose is to make money.
Whoops
If they were individuals, they would be locked away as dangerous sociopaths. Instead, they effectively rule our entire world.
If individuals are allowed to trade with each other on a one-to-one basis, no matter where in the world they were, the world would be a much better place. We would exchange ideas and knowledge, not just goods and services...
Don't give food and aid to Africa, give them Computers and infrastructure
Fishing rods, not fish.
Have a good weekend y'all. Hope to meet again soon
